Cyberbullying of children and adolescents [Acoso cibernético a los niños, niñas y adolescentes]

This article aims to analyse cyberbullying among children and adolescents. Through a systematic review of 16 studies published between 2010 and 2024, it examines the conceptualisation, prevalence, impact on mental health and differences from traditional bullying. The results reveal distinctive characteristics of cyberbullying, such as its unlimited reach and persistence over time, as well as significant consequences for the psychosocial well-being of victims. Different patterns are identified according to gender and sociocultural contexts, with particular relevance for the Ecuadorian reality. The study concludes that there is a need to implement comprehensive preventive strategies involving families, educational institutions and government agencies, adapted to the particularities of the national context, to ensure safe digital environments where children and adolescents can develop fully.
