The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), implies the obligation of the States to adopt measures that prevent the adequate management of solid waste. The objective of this research is to analyze the management of solid waste as a right to health. Fifteen scientific articles were analyzed. The adequate management of solid waste is not only a technical and environmental necessity, but also a legal and ethical obligation that guarantees the human right to health and a healthy environment. This right, recognized in international instruments, requires that municipal regulations integrate principles of sustainability, environmental justice and citizen participation, ensuring that public policies are inclusive, equitable and effective. Biomedical waste management, open market collection and urban planning are priority areas that require strict regulations, constant monitoring and the active collaboration of communities.
