Abstract

Objective: to analyse the factors that affect tooth decay in young university students. Method: systematic review of 15 scientific articles in the population. Results and Conclusion: Tooth decay in young university students is a multifactorial problem that integrates factors related to the level of knowledge and oral health practices, dietary habits, the consumption of psychoactive substances, limited access to dental services and psychosocial variables such as stress and anxiety. The evidence analysed indicates the need to implement educational interventions aimed at prevention, as well as the design of public policies that ensure the availability and accessibility of preventive and curative dental services.
