Abstract

Objective: to analyse the psychosocial factors and their impact on adherence to antiretroviral treatment in adolescents with HIV. Method: Systematic review of 15 scientific articles. Results and conclusion: Stigma and discrimination unfortunately continue to be significant barriers to adherence to ART, which highlights the urgent need to implement interventions at the community and social level to reduce the stigma associated with HIV. For its part, the disclosure of the diagnosis emerges as a critical process which, when handled properly, can considerably facilitate adherence to treatment.
