Abstract

Objective: to describe cytostatic exposure in nursing staff. Method: systematic review, population of 30 articles. Conclusion: The reviewed studies show that the handling of these drugs represents a significant risk, including mutagenic, teratogenic, carcinogenic and cardiotoxic effects, especially affecting those professionals exposed continuously and without adequate protection. The implementation of advanced monitoring methods, such as LC-MS-MS, and the proper use of personal protective equipment are essential to minimize exposure. Despite advances in risk identification and mitigation, the research highlights the urgent need to strengthen safety protocols in hospitals to ensure a safer working environment for nursing staff.
