Violation of the rights of the Pungalá indigenous peoples in Ecuador [Vulneración de los derechos de los pueblos indígenas Pungalá en Ecuador]

The violation of the rights of indigenous peoples in Ecuador has been a constant throughout its history, reflecting the tensions between the interests of the state and the collective rights of the native communities. The aim is to analyse the violation of the rights of the Pungalá indigenous peoples in Ecuador. The research was carried out using a descriptive documentary methodology, and 20 academic articles published between 2009 and 2024 were selected and analysed from specialised scientific journals. The violation of the rights of the Pungalá indigenous peoples in Ecuador reflects the profound contradictions between the constitutional recognition of collective rights and the limited implementation of these rights in practice. Despite the fact that the Ecuadorian state defines itself as plurinational, indigenous communities continue to face significant obstacles in the protection of their ancestral territories, the exercise of justice and cultural self-determination.
