The ruling has generated significant debate on the need to reform the current legal framework, especially the Civil Code, to ensure that it is in line with the recognised rights. Based on the above, the objective of this paper is to analyse the recognition of equal marriage in terms of Judgement N° 11-18-CN/19. Ecuador. Descriptive. Ruling N° 11-18-CN/19 represents a significant advance in the protection of fundamental rights in Ecuador, consolidating the principle of equality and non-discrimination by recognising equal marriage. However, the full realisation of these rights requires additional adjustments to the legal framework, such as the adaptation of the Civil Code and the regulation of related issues, such as adoption by same-sex couples.
