Women victims of violence by spouses [Mujeres víctimas de violencia por parte de su cónyuge]

Gender-based violence in Ecuador represents a persistent and multifaceted challenge that has been the subject of increasing academic and legislative scrutiny in recent years. The objective of the research is to analyse women victims of violence by their spouses. The documentary population consisted of these 11 studies, which address various dimensions of gender-based violence. The analysis of gender-based violence in Ecuador, based on the literature reviewed, demonstrates the urgent need for a comprehensive and multifaceted approach that addresses both the structural roots and the specific manifestations of violence. The gaps in attention to victims, especially in crisis contexts such as the pandemic, together with the lack of proactive policies and the over-reliance on social pressure to push for legislative reforms, underline the shortcomings of the current system.
