Abstract

Euthanasia, understood as medical intervention that seeks to end a patient's life in order to alleviate suffering, raises fundamental questions about the autonomy of the individual, human dignity and the limits of medical intervention. The aim is to analyse the constitutional right to a dignified life and euthanasia in terminally ill patients. Seventeen scientific articles were reviewed. Although there is no universal consensus, the analysis highlights the need to respect patient autonomy, ensure access to quality palliative care and consider the ethical and emotional implications for those involved. This issue remains a global challenge that requires an ongoing, ethical and culturally sensitive dialogue to address the complexities of the end of life.
