Conocimiento de enfermedades de transmisión sexual en adolescentes estudiantes de bachillerato [Knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases among secondary school students]

Objetivo: evaluar el nivel de conocimiento sobre ETS en adolescentes estudiantes de bachillerato. Método: descriptivo observacional en 123 estudiantes. Resultados: El 44,37% de los encuestados manifestó tener conocimiento sobre el VIH/SIDA, mientras que el 35,49% indicó desconocer ejemplos de enfermedades de transmisión sexual. Conclusión: El presente estudio evidencia un conocimiento insuficiente sobre las enfermedades de transmisión sexual (ETS) en adolescentes estudiantes de bachillerato, particularmente en relación con los síntomas y las medidas preventivas, como el uso del preservativo, lo que incrementa su vulnerabilidad frente a estas patologías. Si bien los padres y profesores constituyen las principales fuentes de información, un porcentaje considerable de estudiantes obtiene conocimiento a través de amigos y otras fuentes informales, lo que indica la necesidad de fortalecer la educación sexual estructurada en el ámbito escolar.
