Cardiometabolic and antineoplastic potential of sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 inhibitors (iSGLT2) [Potencial cardiometabólico y antineoplásico de los inhibidores del cotransportador sodio-glucosa tipo 2 (iSGLT2)]

Objective: to analyse the cardiometabolic and antineoplastic potential of sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 inhibitors (SGLT2 inhibitors). Method: systematic review. Results and conclusion: Sodium-glucose cotransporter type 2 inhibitors have demonstrated robust cardioprotective effects in patients with heart failure, particularly those with reduced ejection fraction. The mechanisms include haemodynamic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and renoprotective effects that transcend glycaemic control.
