Abstract

Objective: To analyse the ethnic perspective in the clinical manifestation and distribution of uterine leiomyomas. Method: Document review focused on ethnic differences. Results and Conclusion: Hormonal factors play an important role in the development and growth of uterine fibroids, and their impact varies according to ethnicity due to differences in the production, metabolism, and sensitivity to sex hormones. The influence of genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors in the pathogenesis of fibroids is highlighted, suggesting the need for a personalised approach to their diagnosis and treatment.
