Abstract

Objective: Analysing plaster models with preservation of the gingival structure: analogue model vs digital model. Method: systematic review of 19 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: The results reveal that analogue models offer high fidelity in the reproduction of soft tissues, especially in complex clinical situations, while digital models stand out for their efficiency and versatility, although they have limitations in the detailed capture of subgingival areas. The evidence suggests that the choice between the two methodologies should consider the complexity of the case, aesthetic requirements and available resources. It is concluded that a hybrid approach integrating the strengths of both systems could represent the future of restorative dentistry for optimising the preservation of gingival structures.
