Abstract

Objective: to analyse the effects of nutrition on oral health. Method: systematic review of 15 scientific articles in the population. Results and Conclusion: The results highlight that the excessive consumption of fermentable carbohydrates and ultra-processed foods constitutes a significant etiological factor in the appearance of oral diseases, while nutritional deficiencies negatively affect the quality of enamel and periodontal tissues. Likewise, the need was identified to implement preventive and educational strategies based on scientific evidence, aimed at vulnerable populations, such as children, the elderly and people with chronic diseases, to promote a balanced diet and adequate oral hygiene habits.
