Abstract

Objective: to carry out a comparative analysis of the digital intraoral cameras currently available. Method: systematic review of 15 scientific articles. Results and Conclusion: The comparative analysis of digital intraoral cameras highlights their importance as diagnostic and therapeutic tools in dental practice. These cameras not only allow for the precise recognition of oral anatomical landmarks, but also improve the evaluation of dental restorations, such as gingival status and marginal adaptation of full crowns, through the use of advanced technologies such as polarisation and black and white calibration. Studies based on Cohen's kappa coefficient have demonstrated a high level of concordance between clinical examinations and those carried out with intraoral cameras, validating their reliability in the detection of occlusal caries and other dental defects.
