Objective: to establish the best retainer for maintaining orthodontic post-treatment results. based on this information. Method: PRISMA systematic review. 23 articles were processed, the PICO question was applied. Results and conclusion: Fixed retainers: They are effective, especially those placed from 13-23, as they show fewer changes in stability parameters compared to those from 12-22. However, both are effective if good adhesion to the lingual surfaces of the teeth is ensured. Vacuum-formed retainers (VFR) are also an excellent option, but their effectiveness depends on patient compliance in their regular use. Lack of use can lead to relapse.
