Abstract

Objective: to analyse the risk factors for high blood pressure in the elderly. Method: Systematic review of 15 scientific articles. Results and conclusion: hypertension in the elderly is a multifactorial condition influenced by various interrelated determinants. Although some factors such as age, sex and genetic predisposition cannot be modified, there is a wide range of factors that can be acted upon and which represent significant opportunities for the prevention and control of hypertension in this population.
