Objective: To perform a clinical and surgical evaluation of vascular accesses in dialysis patients based on a systematic review. Method: Systematic review. Results and conclusion: Vascular accesses for haemodialysis are essential in the treatment of advanced chronic kidney disease. Arteriovenous fistula remains the access of choice due to its greater durability and lower risk of infection and thrombosis. However, its prolonged maturation may limit its use in some patients.
