Objective: to analyse the complications and risks of placing dental implants in people who take bisphosphonates. Method: systematic review of 15 scientific articles in the population. Results and Conclusion: Placing dental implants in patients undergoing bisphosphonate therapy constitutes a significant clinical challenge, with osteonecrosis of the jaws being the most serious complication. The scientific literature analysed shows that variables such as the parenteral route of administration, prolonged pharmacological exposure and the presence of comorbidities substantially increase the risk of adverse effects.
