Abstract

Domestic violence is a social and legal problem that profoundly affects the psychological well-being of victims, especially women and children. This article aims to analyse domestic violence and its impact on the psychological well-being of victims in Ecuador. Through a systematic review of 15 scientific articles, the main psychological impacts were identified, such as depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as the family dynamics and associated legal challenges. The results highlight the need to strengthen prevention and response mechanisms, prioritising comprehensive psychological care, institutional training and a cultural change that denaturalises violence. International experiences that can be adapted to the Ecuadorian context to guarantee the protection and reparation of victims are also highlighted.
